Current Skincare Routine

Hello there! I have not done any skincare routine whatsoever on my blog before and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.  I will therefore share both my morning and evening skincare routines.  I follow a VERY basic skincare routine with minimal products being used, but I have been seeing a tremendous difference in my skin, especially since using the Ponds Products, all thanks to a recommendation by my Grandmother who swears by Ponds.  I do however still get the occasional hormonal breakout.  I do believe that taking care of your skin is essential, which is why routines help to assist the process.  I will admit though that I do not always follow my evening skincare routine, mostly because I’m lazy AF.

Without further ado, here is my skincare routine for both mornings and evenings.

Morning Skincare Routine

IMG_6823

I usually start off by cleansing my face with the Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash.  It has a fresh aroma and removes every trace of dirt and oil from the skin, making your skin feel squeaky clean and refreshed and I have definitely noticed the reduction of pimples on my skin.  The product is also said to contain Thymo – T Essence and Salicylic acid, which are both known to prevent pimples.  I then apply the Ponds Lasting Oil Control Vanishing Cream onto my skin, as my moisturizer.  The Ponds Pimple Clear Face Wash is usually supposed to go with the Ponds Leave-on Expert Clearing Gel, which is applied after washing your face and which I’ve used before and loved as well, but I feel that because I have an oily skin type, the Vanishing Cream works better for my skin.  It definitely does as the package says: neutralizes the excess oil, but at the same time still nourishes the skin.

Evening Skincare Routine

IMG_6829

If I wore makeup for the day, I start by taking it off with some makeup wipes.  I then cleanse my face with the Garnier Pure Active 3 – in 1 Wash, Scrub and Mask.  I also use this as a mask sometimes.  This product also contains Salicylic Acid, which as I’ve mentioned before helps to prevent pimples.  I do plan on doing a more in-depth review on this product, which might be featured in a favorites post, but I will tell you, it does wonders for my skin and I absolutely love it!  I then go in with the Ponds Lasting Oil Control Vanishing Cream and apply this all over my face.  You might notice that I did not include a Toner in any of my routines and that is simply because I’ve cut them out of my routine, for the simple reason that I don’t think I really need them.  Another mask I usually also use and love is the Young Solution Triple Take 3 – in – 1 Cleanser, Scrub, Mask.  I did do a review on this mask, which you can check out here.

And that is about it for my skincare routine folks, I was not kidding when I said I follow a VERY basic skincare routine, which actually works 100%  for me, because my skin has been looking the best it’s been in a long time.

Do let me know in the comments if you use any of the products I use and how they work for your skin or if you don’t let me know what products you use in your skincare routine!

Until next time!

xoxo Lilanie

Rihanna – Wild Thoughts Inspired Makeup Look

Hello there beautiful people! Summer is almost at an end here in Namibia and I therefore decided that I need to do one more summer makeup look, before it is actually officially over.  I chose to create a Rihanna inspired makeup look from her music video Wild Thoughts, because I think it is the perfect summer look and I absolutely LOVE the color combo.  It is something I wouldn’t normally create and wear, but I need to step out of my comfort zone a little bit and I loved how it turned out.  Also, I do know that this is not the exact shade she used for her look, but it was the closest I could find in my makeup kit.  Without further ado, here is how you can create this makeup look:

All the colors I used are from the ELF Little Black Beauty Book (Warm Edition) Palette.

The eye makeup

I started off by filling in my eyebrows with the Catrice Eye Brow Stylist Pencil in the shade Date with Ash-ton.

I then applied the LA Girl Concealer all over my eyelid to prep my eyes and then set the concealer with some translucent powder.

I started off by applying the main color, which is this teal shade all over my eyelid.

I then took this black color and applied this onto the outer corners of my eyes and blended it out.

To darken the look a little bit, I further went in with this brown color and applied this in the crease area and extended it upwards.

I then applied the Essence lash Princess Mascara to my top lashes.

After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and just put a bit of the teal shade, followed by the black shade under my lash line and applied the Essence Lash Princess Mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

The Face Makeup

I started by applying my foundation and used the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 220 (Natural Beige)

I then went in with my concealer and used the LA Girl Pro Conceal Concealer in the shade Creamy Beige.

To set my foundation I used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Loose Powder.

I then did my contour with the Absolute New York Pro Contour Palette and used the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion only on the bridge of my nose.

For blush I used the Jordana Blush Powder in the shade Rose Silk.

For my lips I used the Wet n Wild Lipstick in the shade Cherry Frost.

And that concludes this makeup look.  I hope you love this look as much as I do.

Until next time!

Next, I went in with this burnt plum metallic color from the HD Nude Palette (which is the 5th color) and applied this to my eyelid.

To darken up the look a little, I added this dark brown from the HD Nude Palette to the outer corners of my eyelids.

I then applied the Essence Lash Princess Mascara to my top lashes.

After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and added first the burnt plum metallic and then the darkest brown shade under my lash line and then went in with the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion on the inner corners of my eyes.  I then applied the Essence Lash Princess mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

Brown Makeup Look for a Night Out

Hey there beautiful people, I am back with my first makeup look for the year.  I decided to do this brown makeup look, because if you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know that I love doing neutral, pink and brown makeup looks.  I am however going to be experimenting a bit more this year and my next look will definitely be a bit more colorful.  This look is perfect for a night out, I don’t think it’s too glam, but it’s also not too casual, just the perfect in-between.  I also just absolutely love the lip color and the fact that the look is super easy to create, but without further ado, here is how you can achieve this look:

P.S I mostly used the HD Nude Palette 03 to create the eye look.

The eye makeup

I started off by filling in my eyebrows with the Catrice Eye Brow Stylist Pencil in the shade Date with Ash-ton.

I then applied the LA Girl Concealer all over my eyelid to prep my eyes and then set the concealer with a nude shade.

I started off by applying this brown shade in the crease area and extended it a bit above the crease as well.

I then took this champagne shimmer color from the HD Nude Palette and applied it all over my eyelid and to the inner corners of my eyes.

Next, I went in with this dark brown color from the HD Nude Palette and applied this to the outer corner of my eye and applied just a little bit to the crease area as well.

I felt that the eye look needed a bit more shimmer and applied the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion all over my eyelid as well.

I then applied the Essence lash Princess Mascara to my top lashes.

After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and just put a bit of the dark brown shade under my lash line and applied the Essence Lash Princess Mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

The Face Makeup

I started off by priming my face with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.

I then applied my foundation and used the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 220 (Natural Beige)

I then went in with my concealer and used the LA Girl Pro Conceal Concealer in the shade Creamy Beige.

To set my foundation I used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Loose Powder.

I then did my contour with the Absolute New York Pro Contour Palette and used the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion as my highlighter.

For blush I used the Jordana Blush Powder in the shade Rose Silk.

For my lips I used the Essence Lipstick in the shade Barely There.

Red and Gold Holiday Makeup Look

I am back again with another Holiday Makeup Look, because I wanted to give you some options for this festive season.  I just had to include the traditional red lip makeup look as well for the third Holiday Makeup Look on my blog, because it’s a somewhat traditional look for the festive season. Do be sure to check out my other two Holiday Makeup Looks as well.

To create this look I used the HD Nude Palette 03.

I started off by applying the lighter brown shade from the palette and used this in the crease area and extended it upwards as well.

I then took this darker brown shade from the palette and also applied this into the crease area.

Next, I went in with an even darker brown color from the palette and applied it to the inner and outer corners of my eyelid.

I then sculpted out the cut crease with the LA Girl Concealer.

Next, I went in with this yellowish gold shimmer color from the ELF Little Black Beauty Book (Warm Edition) Palette and placed this over the cut concealer on the eyelid.

I then went in with a darker gold shimmer color to add a more gold tone to the look.

Lastly, I reapplied some of the darker brown color to the inner and outer corners of my eyes to blend the shadows.

IMG_4214

I then applied the Essence Volume Stylist Curl and Hold Mascara to my top lashes.

After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and just put a bit of the dark brown shadow under my lash line and applied the Essence Lash Princess Mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

The Face Makeup

I started off by priming my face with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.

I then applied my foundation and used the Rimmel 25 HR Lasting Finish Foundation in the shade Medium Beige.

I then went in with my concealer and used the LA Girl Pro Concealer in the shade Creamy Beige.

To set my foundation I used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Loose Powder.

I then did my contour with the Absolute New York Pro Contour Palette and used the same Palette to highlight my face.

For blush I used the Jordana Blush Powder in the shade Rose Silk.

On my lips I used the Wet n Wild Lipstick in the shade Cherry Frost.

And that is it for my Holiday Makeup Looks series.  This will probably be my last post before Christmas, so Merry Christmas/ Happy Hanukkah to everyone!  I hope you have an amazing Christmas / Hanukkah and that it is sparkled with moments of love, laughter and goodwill.
