Fall / Autumn Music Playlist

(Image: Pinterest)

Hello there beautiful people!  As can be seen by the title, this post will include my favorite tunes for Fall, or Autumn as it is known here in Namibia.  I know, I know, autumn is not officially supposed to start until the 20th of March, but in my mind as soon as the calendar hits the 1st of March, it means the beginning of Autumn here in Namibia.  I therefore thought it would be cool to compile an autumn inspired playlist to help get you (those in parts of the world also experiencing autumn at the moment) and myself in the Autumn mood.  I do advice those who are currently not experiencing the season to still listen to this playlist, because there are some really cool tunes on this playlist that I know you will appreciate listening to.  Also, if you want to listen to any of the songs I mentioned, you can click here to listen all of the songs listed below on YouTube, as I’ve created a playlist there.  I am going to stop rambling now I promise, here are some of my Autumn inspired songs that will probably be experiencing the replay button more than once:

The Single Girl’s Guide to Surviving Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  In my previous post (which if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check it out here – it’s a Valentine’s Day Playlist) I promised that I would do a guide on how to survive Valentine’s Day if you’re single, and here it finally is:

  1. Treat Yourself

You most definitely do not need someone in your life to buy you chocolate / flowers or that cute fluffy teddy bear you’ve been eyeing every time you find yourself in the store.  Go out and spoil yourself a little by buying those things for yourself!

  1. Pamper Yourself

Valentine’s Day is all about love and that includes showing yourself some love as well, which is why that pamper session you’ve been putting off because you feel  slightly guilty about spending money on pampering yourself should definitely become a reality! Go out and get yourself a massage, a manicure / pedicure or even all of those things!  You can even have an affordable pamper session at home by taking a nice long bubble bath and pouring yourself some of that wine you’ve been saving for that special occasion.

  1. Stay away from social media

Your social media will DEFINITELY be flooded with declarations of love, mushy pics of couples happily in love and people posting about what they got on valentine’s day from that special someone.  If you’re one of those people that might get upset or sad by all of this, I would highly recommend staying away from social media for the day.

  1. Have a night out with all your single friends

*All the single ladies, All the single ladies, All the single ladies, now put your hands up!* If you’ve read this, go back and sing it out loud, come on I dare you! Makes you feel a little bit better doesn’t it? Now gather all of your single friends and have a fun night out on the town.

  1. Have a movie / series marathon

There is no better way forgetting that it’s Valentine’s Day then by binge – watching all of your favorite series or movies.  I’d suggest staying away from the romance genre and opting for something a little lighter like some comedy.

  1. Don’t text your ex

Even though you might be feeling a little lonely on this day, texting your ex is a big NO – NO.  There is obviously a reason why you’re not together anymore and you don’t want to make the same mistake twice just because you’re feeling a bit lonely.

  1. Just Another Day

In those moments that you’re feeling extra single, remember that it’s literally just another day! You’ve made it this far being single, so what’s stopping you now?!

  1. Be grateful

Be grateful that you’re single and don’t have the extra stress of having to figure out what to buy your partner or feeling the pressure of making sure that they have the most magical night ever.

I absolutely hope that these tips will be helpful in making your day special and remember it is after all you that is in charge of your happiness and how you spend not only Valentine’s Day, but each day of your life as well.  With that said, I will leave you with this quote by Carrie Bradshaw: “Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you, now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.”

But that is it for this post…until next time!

Valentine’s Day Music Playlist

Hello beautiful people! I’ve been gone for a bit, but I’m back now and that’s all that really matters right?  Am I the only one that feels like January has just flown by, like where has the time gone to? If anyone knows please let your girl know.  With that said, the month of mixed emotions is now on our doorstep.  I say mixed emotions, because for some it’s the month of love and they’ve probably welcomed it and embraced it with open arms, because they most probably have a Valentine’s partner to celebrate with.  For those of us happily / unhappily single, it will probably feel like just any regular month.  You can however make it fun for yourself in numerous ways (I will be getting a post up on how to survive Valentine’s Day if you’re single, so be on the lookout for that).  Today’s post however will feature some romantic tunes that you can play for Valentine’s Day to get you in the mood, to play for a loved one or that you can use to compile a playlist to give to your loved one as a gift.  I’ve also included some pictures of how you can make the gift that much cooler.  So enough of the rambling for now, here is some of my top romantic songs for Valentine’s Day.

I did go a bit old school for the most part of the playlist, but for the simple reason that old school love jamz are simply the best!

But that is it for this post folks…until next time!

Beach Bag Essentials

If you’re in Namibia you’re probably going to find yourself going to a place where you can dip your body in water (a lake, the ocean, a pool) because the heat in this country has just been INSANE.  I have therefore put together a list of beach bag essentials to make your beach/ pool day experience the best it can be.

Beach Bag

You obviously need a beach bag to carry all of your items in.  The one in the picture is from Forever 21, but you can get a similar one from Mr Price.

You’ll definitely need a towel to dry yourself with and to lie on when trying to get that tan you’ve been dreaming of getting the whole winter long (goodbye pale body, see you next winter!)

Hat / Cap

You definitely want to protect your face as much as possible when you’re out and about in the sun, because sunburnt cheeks are a definite NO – NO, plus it’s super sore. (Trust me I’ve had the whole experience – not fun AT ALL) A hat or a cap is therefore an essential when going to the beach.  Also, hats are very cool accessories, especially when you’re going to be taking some photos.

As I’ve mentioned in my summer essentials post, sunscreen is a definite MUST and also one of the most important items on the list.  As the ozone layer is depleting, it is important to protect your body from the sun’s harmful rays, which sunscreen helps to do, by blocking the harmful rays from penetrating the skin and triggering skin disorders.  Most sunscreens or sunblock are now also waterproof, which means that you can enjoy yourself in the water without worrying about being burned by the sun.

Chapstick / Lip Balm

Skin on your lips is actually much thinner and more delicate than the rest of the face and therefore much more vulnerable to damage by the harmful UV rays.  It is therefore important to not only protect your body, but your lips as well.  These days you can find lip balms and lipsticks that also have the added SPF to ensure that your lips are protected.

Not only will these make you look hella stylish, but will protect your eyes from the sun as well.

Sandals / Flip Flops

More often than not the sand on the beach will be scorching hot, hence the need for flip flops, which I think is a better option than sandals as it’s easier to slide on and off your feet.

Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is very important when going to the beach, as you will most probably be in the sun all day.  Don’t spoil the beach trip for everyone by refusing to take a water bottle with you and possibly fainting from dehydration.  You’ll also probably never get invited again, so make sure you drink as much water as you possibly can.  I recently just discovered an awesome drink for the summer thanks to my aunt, which can be seen in the picture above.  It is super refreshing during the summer.  It’s an Aloe Vera drink and it comes with different flavored juices (the coconut one is pretty good) it does also have the Aloe Vera pulp inside (which I’m not a fan of, but there are ways to get around that and still enjoy the drink)

Kimono / Cover Up

Beach cover ups and kimonos are a stylish way to further protect your skin from the sun.  You can find some pretty dope ones at Edgars.

Definitely include your headphones, a book or a magazine in your beach bag to avoid laying on the beach all day with nothing to do and possibly getting bored (you can only stare at the ocean for so long) plus a beach outing is the perfect time to catch up on some reading!

Cute bikini

Taking BOMB ass pictures for the gram is definitely a big part of going to the beach (for most of us anyways) and therefore you obviously want to look your best, which is why a cute bikini will be an essential part of your beach outing.

But that is it for this post, I hope this post will be helpful during your next beach getaway.

Until next time!
