Glowy Spring Makeup Look

We are officially in the last month of spring here in Namibia and I’m excited for summer and December, as it is my birthday month and Christmas (YAY!!) This means that I can finally start playing Christmas music without being judged (I love my Christmas carols okay).  I have therefore decided to do a final spring makeup look, which can definitely be used for summer as well.

The eye makeup

I started off by priming my eyes with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.

Next, I filled in my eyebrows with the Catrice Eye Brow Stylist Pencil in the shade Date with Ash-ton.

I then applied the LA Girl Concealer all over my eyelid to prep my eyes and then set the concealer with some translucent powder.

I then applied this shimmery pink color from the SMOKY Palette all over my eyelid.

Next, I went in with this brown color from the HD Nude Palette and applied this in my crease and extended it upwards.

Also from the HD Nude Palette I applied this even darker brown color also into my crease and extending it upwards for a little more definition.

I then applied this plum brown color from the ELF Little Black Beauty Book (Warm Edition) Palette onto the outer corner of my eyelid.

Next, I applied this orangey bronze color from the HD Nude Palette all over my eyelid(which is the third color in the palette that can be seen in the picture below) I then reapplied some of that shimmery pink color I used in the beginning also over my eyelid to soften down the orangey color.

I then applied the Essence Volume Stylist Curl and Hold Mascara to my top lashes.

After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and just put a bit of the two brown shades under my lash line and applied the Essence Lash Princess Mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

I then also applied this shimmery white color to the inner corners of my eyes, as well as my brow bone.

The Face Makeup

I started off by priming my face with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.

I then applied my foundation and used the Rimmel 25 HR Lasting Finish Foundation in the shade Medium Beige.

I then went in with my concealer and used the LA Girl Pro Concealer in the shade Creamy Beige.

To set my foundation I used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Loose Powder.

I then did my contour with the Absolute New York Pro Contour Palette and used the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion as my highlighter. (Don’t be shy with the highlighter as this is a glowy makeup look)

For blush I used the Jordana Blush Powder in the shade Rose Silk.

On my lips I used the Avon Color Trend Lip Gloss in the shade Pucker.

And that concludes this makeup look and the spring makeup series.  I will still try to get some spring inspired outfit ideas up on the blog before spring is officially over so be on the lookout for that.

I really hope you enjoyed this post…until next time!

Current Favorites

Hello there beautiful people! I haven’t done a monthly favorites in such a long time (I skipped two months to be precise – oops!) and I therefore thought that I would do a current favorites instead.  So without further ado, here are some of the stuff I have currently been loving.

Music

Sam Smith’s Album – The Thrill of It All

Sam Smith is FINALLY back with a new album and I am SUPER excited!! I can literally listen to him all day, every day.  As always, all of his songs are just so damn good, but I do have a few favs that have been on repeat since the album came out.  These include Burning (do go listen to the live version on YouTube here, trust me you’ll thank me), No Peace ft YEBBA (Two soulful voices on one track – be ready for some serious goosebumps), Too Good at Goodbyes, Palace, Pray, The Thrill of it All and One Day at a Time (this is such a beautiful song).

Demi Lovato’s Album – Simply Complicated

I’ve been a fan of Demi Lovato since her appearance on Camp Rock.  It has been interesting to watch not only her musical journey, but her personal journey as well.  I love her new sound, because she has such an amazing voice, which is showcased more in this new album, there is also more soul and emotion, which I’m all for.  She has also released a documentary of her life journey, focusing on her struggles with her eating disorder, as well as her alcohol and substance abuse, which you can check out here.  Some of my favorite tracks from the album include: Sorry not Sorry, Sexy Dirty Love, Daddy Issues, You Don’t Do it for Me Anymore, Only Forever and Smoke and Mirrors.  This girl is amazing, so do yourself a favor and go listen to this album, you won’t regret it!

CNCO ft Little Mix – Reggaeton Lento

Sevyn Streeter – Before I do

Sabrina Claudio – Wait

Jidenna – Boomerang

Rotimi ft Kranium – Want more

MiC LOWRY – Don’t tempt me

Rhyon –Gone

LA Girl HD Pro Concealer

IMG_2876

This is definitely one of my all-time favorite products.  The product comes in a 0.28 OZ (8g) squeeze tube with an attached brush applicator.  It has a creamy consistency and is so easy to blend.  I love this product, because it does an amazing job of camouflaging the darkness under my eyes, as well as skin imperfections and has minimal creasing when set with some powder.  It is also super affordable (you can find it at Dischem for N$ 59.95) and travel friendly.  The only thing which might not be everyone’s cup of tea is the applicator, which can be a bit tricky to get the right amount of product out, so you need to be careful and strategically squeeze out the right amount of product, as you don’t want too much product being wasted.

RK by Kiss Nail Polish in Marshmallow

IMG_2610

This color is absolutely beautiful and the main reason why this made the list.  It’s the perfect spring / summer color and I can pair it up with any outfit.   I love the consistency of this nail polish, it is not runny, not too thick; just a perfect in-between that allows it to apply very smoothly.  Because of the light color of this nail polish, I do however apply two coats of nail polish just to make sure I get the best color.

Nivea Body Lotion (Vanilla and Almond Oil)

IMG_2884

I’ve always been a fan of the Nivea Body Lotions and usually use the one with Shea Butter and when I saw that they came out with a new product infused with vanilla and almond oil, I knew I had to try it out.  It smells absolutely amazing and is not sticky or greasy at all.  It also leaves your skin feeling super soft and radiant and is another affordable product, which you can get for N$ 48.45 at Dischem or N$ 49.95 at Clicks, which is definitely a bargain, as you get a 400 ml bottle for that price.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer

IMG_2866

This product is a clear – jelly, silicone – based primer that comes in very pretty packaging – it comes in a teal and turquoise tube, with hot pink writing.  I love this primer because it is lightweight, blends easily, it is non – comedogenic, which means that it does not clog the pores, it is travel friendly and it is a pore – blurring primer that leaves your skin with a smooth finish.  You do however only need the tiniest amount, as it can sometimes give a bit of an oily feel, especially if you have oily skin.  You can get this product at Clicks for N$ 94.95.

Essence Volume Stylist 18h Curl and Hold Mascara

IMG_2864

I have finally decided to try something other than the Essence Lash Princess Mascara (which if you have followed me for a while, you would know is one of my favorite mascaras).  The Essence Volume Stylist Mascara contains micro – styling waxes for voluminous and curved lashes and is also made up of a fully loaded paddle brush.  The formula is not too wet or dry; it has a nice, deep dark black color and does not irritate my eyes.  I mostly love this mascara because it adds length, volume and curl to my lashes and gives it a beautiful dramatic false lash effect, which I definitely need, as I do not wear false eyelashes and can we just take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous the packaging is?  The only thing I do not like about this product is that the brush is quite big, which does make the tube a bit messy and also makes it difficult to use on the lower lash line, which is why I just use this on my upper lash line.  I can’t find the price for the product on either Dischem or Clicks’ Website, but if I remember correctly it was in the N$ 40 – N$ 55 price range.

Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash and Leave-on Expert Clearing Gel

IMG_2877

Both products contain Thymo – T Essence and Salicylic acid, which are both known to prevent pimples. The Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash has a thick, creamy consistency, while the Clearing Gel, as the name suggests has a gel – like consistency.  I love the packaging on these products  and it has been a favorite as it has a fresh aroma and removes every trace of dirt and oil from the skin, making your skin feel squeaky clean and refreshed and I have definitely noticed the reduction of pimples on my skin.  Together these products will definitely make a difference on your skin.  You can find both these products for N$ 44.95 at Dischem and at Clicks the Facewash (100 ml) is N$ 42.95 and the Clearing Gel is N$ 35.95.

Series

Riverdale

If you love drama filled series like myself, you will definitely enjoy this series.  The characters in the series are based on the characters from Archie Comics.

Accessories

Black Choker

IMG_7736

I’ve had this choker for a while and recently started wearing it again, which made me realize once again how pretty awesome it is.  It has this black lace detail with a little pearl pendant at the front, which I love, as it gives it a bit of a feminine touch.

Snacks

I recently stumbled upon the Fruit Chutney flavored Jumping Jack popcorn and I am in love! This tastes SO FREAKING GOOD!!

But that is it for this post, really hope you enjoyed it, do let me know in the comments what your current favorites are.

Until next time!

xoxo Lilanie

Pretty Spring Makeup Look

Pretty Spring Makeup Look

I am back with another spring makeup look.  I love this look, because it’s simple to do, fun, as well as colorful with the pop of color on the lips.  I also just love the color combo.

The first part of this post will cover the eye makeup, followed by the face makeup.  I used the SMOKY palette to create this look.

The eye makeup

  • I started off by filling in my eyebrows with the Catrice Eye Brow Stylist Pencil in the shade 020 Date with Ash-ton.

  • I then went in with this purple color on the outer corner of my eye and extended it towards my crease.

Next, I went in with this light pink shimmery color and just applied this right next to the purple color.

I then went in with this champagne color on the inner part of my eyelid and took a blending brush to blend all of the colors together.

For the crease color I used this brown shade from the ELF Little Black Beauty Book (Warm Edition) Palette.

I then applied the Essence Volume Stylist 18 hr Curl and Hold Mascara.

After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and just put a bit of the brown shade under my lash line and applied mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

Spring Glam Makeup Look

Today’s makeup look, as you might already have seen by the title is a spring makeup look.  I love this look, because it is just so darn pretty and I think it works really well with brown eyes, there’s just something about it that makes my eyes pop.  Also, I know I haven’t been posting regularly, but as previously mentioned, school has been keeping me busy and the torture will be ending in November when I’m done with my exams.  I will however try to post as much as I possibly can, but without further ado, here is how you can get this pretty makeup look.

For this look I used the HD Nude Palette and it’s called Shades of Nude 03.

IMG_9335

I usually start with my eye makeup first, therefore the first part will consist of the eye makeup look and the second part will cover the full face makeup.

The Eye Makeup

  • I started off by filling in my eyebrows with the Smudge Brow Pencil in the shade Light Brown.
  • I then applied the LA Girl Concealer all over my eyelid to prep my eyes and then set the concealer with some translucent powder.
  • I started off by applying this nude color all over my eyelid as my transition color.
  • I then went over that with this darker pinkish color and focused in the crease as well as extending it upwards.
  • I then applied this brown shade on the outer corners of my eyes.
  • I then went in with an even darker brown and this one has a little bit of a shimmer to it. I also focused this on the outer corners of my eyes.
  • For my eyelids I used this shimmery color and also just placed some of it on the inner corners of my eyes.
  • I then applied the Essence Lash Princess Mascara to my top lashes.
  • After I finished my face makeup, I went back to my eyes and just put a bit of the two brown shades under my lash line and applied mascara to my bottom lashes as well.

The Face Makeup

  1. I started off by priming my face with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.
  2. I then applied my foundation and used the L’Oréal True Match Foundation in the shade Sand.
  3. I then went in with my concealer and used the LA Girl Pro Conceal Concealer in the shade Creamy Beige.
  4. To set my foundation I used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Loose Powder.
  5. I then did my contour with the Absolute New York Pro Contour Palette and used the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion as my highlighter.
  6. For blush I used the Jordana Blush Powder in the shade Rose Silk.

For my lips I used the LA Colors Lip Liner in this pink shade and topped it off with the Avon Pink Lip Gloss in the shade Rose Splash.

Purple Smokey Eye Prom Makeup Look

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted something and I apologize! I have been super busy with assignments. You might have also noticed that I did not put up a July Favorites post and that is because I will be combining my July and August favorites in one post. Today’s post will be a prom inspired makeup look, which for those of you who are past the prom stage can use it for a fancy outing or special event.  I love this look, because it is simple to do and it works very well with brown eyes.  Be sure to check out my previous post as well on my tips for Prom here  As always the first part will consist of the face makeup and the second part will cover the eye makeup.

IMG_0481

  1. So I started off by priming my face with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser.
  2. I then applied my concealer, I find that applying it before the foundation works better to cover up my blemishes and I used the Essence Stay Natural Concealer in the shade Soft Beige. I just apply this under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose, on my forehead and on any blemishes I have.
  3. I then applied my foundation and used the L’Oréal True Match Foundation in the shade Sand. I love this foundation, because it is very lightweight.  You also want to make sure not to use a foundation that has a SPF in it, because it usually creates flashback in photos.
  4. To set my foundation I used the Yardley Absolute Translucent Loose Powder.
  5. I then did my contour with the Absolute New York Pro Contour Palette and used the same palette to highlight my face.
  6. To finish off the look, I went in with the Jordana Blush Powder in the shade Rose Silk.

The Eye Makeup

To create this look, I used the SMOKY Palette, the ELF Little Black Book (Warm Edition) Palette and the Essence Quattro (Denim 4.0) Eye shadow Palette.

  • I started off by filling in my eyebrows with the Smudge Brow Pencil in the shade Light Brown.
  • I used this brown color from the ELF Palette as a base color and placed it all over my eyelid.
  • I then used this purple shade from the Essence Palette and placed this on the outer corner of my eyelids.

In the inner corner of my eyelid I used this shimmery silver color from the SMOKY Palette and focused it towards the center of my eyelid.

I then used the purple color from the Essence Palette and placed it under my lower lash line and the silver color from the SMOKY Palette towards the inner corner of my eye.

For mascara I used the Essence Lash Princess Mascara. I did not apply any false lashes, but that is totally optional, I think it would look great with this look as well.

For lips I used NYC Lipstick in the shade Petal and topped it off with the Essence XXXL Lip Gloss in the shade True Love and I  did not want to go too dark with the lips, since the eyes are already dramatic, but this is totally optional as well.

And this is the finished look:
